   What is this a pic­ture of? How did you get the swirl?

   It is a pic­ture of a paint­ing I have. I am start­ing a series of ten pic­tures of the same thing…this paint­ing. I was feel­ing like I didn’t have any­thing to shoot and so I decided to dis­ci­pline myself to find ten things with 10 feet of me. I arrived at the paint­ing. The shift in focus is gen­er­ated by an inter­est­ing lens called a lens­baby that allows the pho­tog­ra­pher to adjust the angle of the lens while shoot­ing. It has a bel­lows. This allows me to keep some ele­ments in focus and some out on the same flat plane. It is an effect you can’t gen­er­ate in pho­to­shop, which is nice…
