Wish I could see the world the way I see an ant hill. All the swarming lines of people milling over the planet. I see those ants by chance and I don’t have an impact on their swirling. They are doing their thing, and I am doing my thing. I am looking but not really looking at any one particular ant. Really, just passing by. The pattern of their milling is interesting, like a kaleidoscope. I am sure our pattern is also kind of cool to see. We are doing our thing and the world is spinning and that is about it.
Right now I am worn, tired. I would like to be traveling, looking, being somewhere else. I like the getting on a plane and then walking off and literally being on a different spot on the curving earth. Would like to wake up and write and make pictures and eat food and walk around and sit and then swim and eat and sleep long enough to dream all the way through a dream and wake up slowly and walk hand in hand and dawdle and ignore something ”important” and draw a picture and run into water and take night pictures and eat a mango at midnight in a warm place.
I enjoyed reading this today, lovely thoughts.
Me too! I enjoy all your photographs and articles. This past couple of weeks have been very hectic for me.. a lot of irons in the fire that need my attention and focus, so I’ve been putting in long hours with very little candle left to burn. Thanks for taking the time to do this Stephen…it’s a real blessing to me.
Thank you both. It is more than a pleasure for me.
